Sports Injuries

Back to school season also means back to sports season! Over 46 million children are enrolled in sports every year at school. We encourage parents to push their children into doing sports in school for the many benefits it can have on their child’s life ( Healthy eating habits, Physical exercise, Build friendships). However, children playing physical sports have a higher risk of getting an injury than those who don’t. We here at AFC Urgent Care Worcester treat a wide range of sports injuries!

Breaks, Cuts, Scraps, Bruises

A child might suffer a broken bone in a sports accident or just from the physical contact of the sports in general. We treat breaks such as:

A fracture is a break in the bone that is usually can look like a thin line. The types of fractures we treat here are:

Minor Broken Bones

Accidents happen all the time in sports. The sports that have contact such as Basketball, Football, Soccer have the potential to break minor bones. Minor bones consist of

Bone Bruise

This occurs when the bone is injured but not broke, We see a lot of these in soccer players around their ankles where there is not that much muscle on that part of the body.

Cuts that need stitches can also be brought to us here at AFC Urgent Care. We can provide stitches as well as cleaning so no infection occurs.

We also provide X-rays if you believe your child has a break from a sporting incident. We will access X-rays & then provide you with what your next course of action should be.
