Flu treatment

January is peak season for the flu & even if you think you are covered with the flu shot you should think again! The flu shot is the best way to protect yourself from this years flu virus however it is only 75% effective. If you feel like you are sick don’t discredit yourself from having the flu just because you have gotten a flu shot. The flu or influenza virus has a numerous amount of symptoms & causes, all of which we will be discussing in this article.
Flu symptoms tend to show up around  5-7 days after infection, some common beginning symptoms of the flu are:

  • A fever over 100.4
  • Aching muscles
  • Chills & sweats
  • A sore throat
  • Nasal congestion

If you are experiencing these symptoms then you should come to our Urgent Care facility to have one of our physicians give you an examination. The examinations are brief & not painful, It is best you get an examination as soon as possible in case you are infected, so we can get you on treatment right away.
There are many ways to treat influenza & they are all relative to the part of the body has been affected the most by it. It can be overwhelming to try to self medicate with all of the direct to consumer drugs that are available today. You do not want to be taking the wrong medicine that will not help your symptoms. Our physicians will point you in the right direction & will advise which drugs you should ask to ensure that you are on your way to feeling back to normal!
