3 Signs You Need a Vacation This Summer

Summer is officially here, which means a break for children, but unfortunately, no break for most working adults. America is one of the only countries in the world that doesn’t require mandatory vacation time. Since the time off isn’t mandatory, many employees never give themselves a break they so desperately need. If you’re experiencing any of these 3 things, it’s time to start booking flights!

1. Insomnia

If you’ve become caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, you’re probably more exhausted than ever. Logically, this should lead to better sleep, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case. People who lead busy lives are more likely to suffer from insomnia. You may find yourself up at night thinking about everything you need to do the next day. On vacation, there’s nothing to do the next day except relax!

2. Depression

If you’re stressed out at work, you’re more likely to suffer from depression. Feeling unhappy in your life is a hopeless place to be. To break that cycle of unhappiness, you may just need a simple reset. Going on vacation gets you out of the office, out of your home, and into a fun new environment. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your symptoms of feeling down and hopeless dissipate when you’re able to rediscover the excitement that life has to offer!

3. Low Morale in the Work Place

If you used to love your job but no longer find the same passion for it, it’s time to take a much-needed vacation. Employees who don’t take vacation time report lower morale in the workplace and decreased productivity. If you take a vacation, you’ll come back refreshed and ready to do your job the best you possibly can!
Taking a vacation is hard, but it’s worth it. You don’t have to spend a fortune or go very far to see the benefits of some time off of your normal routine! Talk to your employer and tell them why you feel that you need time off. If they value you as an employee, they’ll find a way to make it work. Preparing for your trip and delegating your duties while you’re away is all you have to do to make a vacation possible! Remember, a vacation doesn’t count if you spend the entire time on your phone or laptop responding to business emails and calls.
